Don't Quit

"Brock, you are the most influential player on this team. If you walk around defeated, so will they! Don't tell me you can't give me more than what I've been seeing! Brock, I need you! God has gifted you with the ability of leadership. Don't waste it!"

When I was shown this clip, it really had an impact on me in that I realized how many students (both young and old) have never had "the lid taken off their dreams." What I mean is the moment when you realize

I can do anything.

In the video, it starts talking about attitude and how if you think you are going to fail or lose, that you are already starting from your own end zone. Believing you can accomplish your goal is an ATTITUDE, "the aroma of your heart" that can cause you to rise up against any obstacles that present themselves, persevere and triumph in spite of difficulties. I have also realized, for whatever reason, I enjoy encouraging people to see this statement is actually TRUE. I remember my moment of truth vividly and I go back to it often when encouraging my friends, family, three children and all their friends of what really is possible.

If there are two options, push forward or quit, how do we ever know what we are capable of unless someone reminds us that we can do it, that it IS possible if we commit that we can't quit. I have the "Don't Quit" poem by Anonymous in my office at work and often have people ask me about it. When they do, I send them to this clip!

DO you give your ABSOLUTE BEST? What about the times when the circumstances or situations around us bring question to whether we can do it or not? What could we accomplish if we didn't know any limitations? If we were blind to the obstacles around us and we had a coach encouraging us to keep pushing forward, what more could we do, how much farther could we go, how much richer could our lives become?

For now, enjoy this short clip, more to come..

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is queer with its twists and its turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When they might have won, had they stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than, It seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup; And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out The silver tint of the clouds of doubt And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit, It's when things seem worst that you must not quit!
